Ginger
Scientific name: Idiber officinale
Origin:
This is a medicinal plant found in Southeast Asia, especially in India and China. It has been cultivated for thousands of years and is now grown as a major commercial crop in tropical and subtropical regions around the world.
Cultivation Areas:
Although cultivated in various countries around the world, the main producers are India, China, Nigeria, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. It is also cultivated in many other tropical and subtropical regions, including parts of the Americas.
Medicinal properties:
Ginger is a popular plant in traditional medicine due to its unique medicinal properties. Its medicinal properties are unique. Ginger contains the powerful bio-active compound gingerol. It helps in reducing inflammation and is a good medicine for conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Asians use it as a winter drink.
Digestion:
Ginger relieves indigestion. It reduces conditions like nausea, muscle pain, vomiting and bloating during pregnancy. Ginger tea or ginger coffee with ginger milk is commonly used for this.
